    Howard Morton enlisted in the USAF on 27 June 1951. He completed basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas and was assigned to James Connally AFB at Waco, TX. He was appointed to Aviation Cadets
    Completed his primary training in T-6s at Marana Air Base in Tucson, AZ and Basic Pilot Training at Williams AFB in Phoenix with Class 52-H. He completed Advance Fighter Pilot Training in the F-86 at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas in April 1953. He was then assigned to K-13 AFB in Korea where he flew the F-86 in the 35th Fighter Bomber Sqdn of the 8th Fighter Bomber Group during and after the Korean War. He then served as Information Services Officer of Laredo AFB until he completed his enlistment as a 1st Lt in December 1955.
