    Ira Joe Taylor (1919-1970) served in the United States Army during WW II in the European Theater. He was the recipient of the Combat Infantry Badge, which is awarded individually to troops who have been “in harms way”. He received this award on October 26, 1944. This is the only decoration worn on an Army uniform above the Congressional Medal of Honor.
    He was the husband of Donnie Sue Rash Taylor and had 4 daughters: Donna Jo Taylor Wesson, Patricia Dell Taylor Vivion, Christy Lynn Taylor Moss, and Emy Dawn Taylor Kolander. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1956 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He went to work for Rocketdyne in McGregor, Texas in the solid rocket fuel division. He was a metallurgy specialist and a professional engineer. He was a member of the American Welding Society and a scholarship at TSTI in Waco, TX is provided for students in his name. He was a Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church of Robinson, TX, where he served as song director.
    His family is proud of his many accomplishments and of him as a person.
