    Wall of Honor Level:
    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:

Col. Smith joined the Air Force in 1948 and graduated from flying school with the class of 1949A. He flew the F-86, F-84, F-100, and F-111 among others during his 22 year career. He was with the group of pilots from Cannon AFB who flew on the Mobile Zebra in the late 1950's. I believe they set a record for their flight from the West Coast to Okinawa using refueling in the air. He flew 100 missions in Korea and 300 missions in Vietnam. Col. Smith was a proud American who loved his country and was happy to have been a part of the pioneering of the Air Force. Col. Smith died March 24, 1997.
