    Jim's interest in aviation and space began in 5th grade in 1952, when he submitted designs for spacecraft to the U.S. Navy. Later, in high school designed and tested liquid propellant rocket engines. Worked for Navy on Polaris Project at Cape Canaveral, and on advanced booster programs at Aerojet. Graduated from college with degrees in Materials and Mechanical Engineering. USAF Minuteman Missile maintenance officer 1965-1969. Worked as engineer on Poseidon and Trident I missiles, Space Shuttle Program, & Titan launch vehicles. Member Mars Society, Planetary Society, National Space Society. Lecturer and writer on topics intended to advance the cause of manned space exploration. "I firmly believe that an expanded, vigorous manned space exploration and operations program is vital to the future of the United States of America and Humankind!"
