Jean-Pierre Clement (known to all as JP) is an aviator in all senses of the word. At the age of 16 in 1960, he flew solo in a glider and 10 years later in 1970, acquired a private plane license in France. JP created a glider club in the mountains (he instructed and also towed gliders).
JP owned a free Hang glider in 1975 and then at the age of 46, with a little engine, he became a Canadian private pilot and a Balloon pilot in 1990.
He achieved, in Canada, a float plane rating and a Twin engine rating. In about 199, JP became IFR (instrument rated) and commercial hot air balloonist.
To date in mid-2003, JP has roughly 2,000 hours in gliders, 350 in hot air balloons and 1,500 hours in planes.
His Cessna 182 Skylane was built in 1974. His call sign is N12 FJ.
JP's attire exemplifies his love for flying. He always dresses in a professional manner. The unique aspect of his attire is that all, yes all, of his ties are patterned after a hot air balloon. JP's love for the sky is demonstrated with the many stories he shares from his experiences. His eyes widen, his face aglow and his enthusiasm and passion is expressed in his voice.
