Mr. Smith enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Corps in Oct. 1946 and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in the U. S. Air Force in Oct. 1949.
While in the service he studied Aviation Engineering. He also played trumpet in the 521st Band in Spokane, Washington, and Cheyenne, Wyoming.
In civilian life he played in numerous musical organizations in and around the Lancaster, Pennsylvania area, The Lancaster Symphony, Rohrerstown Band, Malta Band, Landler Kapelle German Band, to mention a few. He has been playing in the Lititz Moravian Church Brass Choir for over 70 years.
His working years included bank teller and accounting clerk.
