    Born on September 14, 1923 in Shreveport, Louisiana, Mr. Hewett's aviation career began in 1943 when he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps. In World War II he flew P-51s and was in route to Okinawa when Japan surrendered. His service with the U.S. Army Air Corps was from 1943 to 1948.
    During the Korean War (1950-1951), he served in the U.S. Air Force as a member of the IIIth Fighter Bomber Squadron, 136th Fighter Group, Texas Air National Guard with the rank of 1st Lieutenant. In Korea he flew the F-84 ThunderJet and completed 100 combat missions over enemy territory. On 30 December 1951 he was assigned to the Texas Air National Guard Fighter Escort Squadron at Bergstrom Field, Austin, Texas. From 1952 to 1957 he was a member of the Texas Air National Guard, IIIth Fighter Bomber Squadron, flying F-80s. He retired with the rank of Captain in 1957.
    From 1957 to 1973 he was an executive pilot and head of corporate aviation for Baroid, a division of U.S. National Lead, in Houston, Texas. From 1973 to 1993 he co-managed Andrau Air Park with his late wife, Helen Andrau Hewett. Mr. Hewett is retired and lives in Houston, Texas.
    His life-long career in aviation and service to his country during World War II and the Korean War qualifies Mr. Hewett as an Honoree on The National Aviation and Space Exploration Wall of Honor.
