    Honored by:
    Mr. Stephen T. Garavaglia

In memory of John Paul Torno (1921-2001)

John was our Uncle. Those who knew him will remember him as a modest hard
working and loving family man with a smile on his face and a funny story to tell.

Some of those stories were from his days as a radio man in World War II. During the war, there was a monkey he befriended that sat on his shoulder while hissing at his tent-mates, the gluttony after receiving a package or food from home, or taking the controls of his Vega Ventura from an indulgent pilot. Rarely did a story ever turn to combat missions even though there were many. While he did not speak of his valor, a display case with his medals hung unobtrusively, silently on the wall. Oh, to hear him tell those stories one more time.

    Bob, Steve, and Laurie Garavaglia
