    Born Nov. 17, 1916 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
    Died April 28, 2004 in Grosse pointe, Michigan.
    As a boy he learned to fly at age 16 (1932). It became a favorite hobby . At age80 on his birthday, he gave himself a present of one last flight! (1996)
    After college on December 2 19041 he completed training and was designated a Naval Aviator with the rank of Ensign at Jacksonville, FL Naval Air station. His career began as a primary flight instructor. He was aboard the escort carrier USS Bismarck Sea when it was sunk by Kamikaze planes during the Battle for Iwo Jima in the Pacific (World War II). He saw the flag raised. He left the Navy as a Lt. Commander.
