Kenneth W Crabb has always been in awe of flight. He took his first jet plane ride to Denmark as a Rotary Youth exchange student. He watched in awe as he stared at the moon when the Apollo astronauts landed in 1969 and watched the TV reports of the first men walking on the moon. His interest in science led him to graduate cum laud with a BS in Chemistry with a Biochemical Emphasis, then a MD from the University of Iowa. After completing a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, he practice in the St Paul area for more than 40 years. But his interest in planes and space craft continued as he read both nonfiction and science fiction. After joining Rotary in 1979 ,he was pleased to find a fellow Rotarian Bill Cammack who not only shared his interest in service but also owned a twin engine Baron. Bill and Ken flew to many a Rotary event over the years. Bill was instrumental in allowing Ken to serve as District Governor of District 5960 by flying him to many of his presentations to clubs outside of the Twin Cities area. Ken seriously considered getting his own license but felt that keeping up to date would be a challenge over time. Besides, Bill was always available to fly him until his untimely death in 2006. Ken continues to avidly read about flying and space travel and is happy to support the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum as they keep alive the history of flight and space travel.
