Navy Lieutenant Alfred Simonsen participated in two Vietnam cruises from 1964 to 1966 flying A-4's off the carrier, Bon Homme Richard. He was awarded several air medals and the Distinguished Flying Cross.
He retired from American Airlines as a captain after a 32 year career flying the British Aircraft Company (BAC) III, Boeing 727, 707, 757, DC 10, and MD 11.
