    Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, Purdue University, commissioned 2nd Lt, USAF, 1968. Earned wings at Laredo AFB; assigned to fly C-130 Hercules at Stewart AFB, NY; permanently assigned to 61st Tactical Airlift Squadron, Little Rock AFB, Arkansas. Transferred to 76th Tactical Airlift Squadron Ching Chaun Kang AB, Taiwan, 1972. Flew 72 combat missions; awarded Distinguished Flying Cross and two Air Medals. Upgraded to Aircraft Commander, then Instructor Pilot. Maintenance Squadron Section Commander. Returned to flying duty in 50th Tactical Airlift Squadron, Little Rock AFB, AR. Assigned to 37th Tactical Airlift Squadron at Rhein-Main AB, Germany. Achieved the rank of Major and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Medal with Cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal, and Presidential Unit Citation with 3 Clusters. Currently [2001] United Airlines Captain of Airbus A320 with 15,000 hours flying time.
