    Mary Eunice Strunk was born on 17 March 1908 in a sod house in Missouri. She packed parachutes at Derry's shop in Inglewood for test pilots at Muroc Air Base, CA from the early 1940s to the 1960s. She had 13 Caterpillar Club members (successful use of chutes) and no failures. Included in the pilots she saved was Bob Hoover on July 7, 1955. She was honored by the North American and McDonnell corporation pilots when she retired.
