    While getting her BScEE at Georgia Tech, she co-oped at NASA's Kennedy Space Center from 1983-1987. She worked in Communications, Navigation, and Instrumentation for the Space Shuttle. While there she received a Certificate of Appreciation for her work on the Space Shuttle Challenger Accident Investigation.

    After graduation, she went to work at Watkins-Johnson Company where she helped assemble and test the Ultra High Frequency (UHF) and Tactical Air Navigation (TACAN) antennas to be installed on Space Shuttle Endeavor. She made a maintenance training video for the Rockwell Service Center. She helped design, build and test the UHF, S, and C-band antennas and test couplers for the Titan Centaur Rocket and the horn antenna that flew in the payload bay for the Extended Range Payload Experiment.

    She then went to work at Scientific-Atlanta (now ViaSat) designing, building, and testing remote sensing ground station antennas.
