    Honored by:
Mr. and Mrs. Judson G. Shelton

Michael H. Shelton was born July 29, 1957. His Dad would take him as a baby to watch the planes at the National Air Guard in Fresno, California. His 5th grade teacher, Mrs. West, used his love of airplanes to interest him in reading. In high school, he was a member of the Pre-flight Aeronautics Ground School, part of the Regional Occupation Program. He obtained his Private Pilot's License at the age of 19, and graduated from Northrop University in 1977 as an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic. He worked for Otis Mercer, using his skills to pay for flying time, and at BD Aircraft while attending San Jose State. After moving to Southern California, he used his spare time helping to rebuild and refurbish P51 Mustangs to be used as air racers. This included such noted winners as Red Baron, Jennie and Daydreamer. He was a crew chief on Daydreamer, and was successful in taking a stock P51 Mustang to win the Bronze race at the 1982 Reno Air races. In 1992, he took his love of airplanes, and turned it into a successful ground support company called Aircraft Tool & Maintenance Equipment, Inc. ATME is his legacy to the aviation industry, at the time of his death on July 30, 2001
