Michael S.G. Lopez was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He graduated with an MPhil and PhD in economics from Yale University, after doing research across India and hiking the mountains in Nepal.
After his graduation, he was attached to the Faculte des Sciences Juridiques et Economiques, University of Dakar, Senegal for the Francophone Africa Program of the University of Michigan's Center for Research on Economic Development. He went on to become a Visiting Assistant Professor at Michigan State University and later served as an economist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
He loved the history and innovation on display at the National Air & Space Museum, from the Wright Brothers' planes to modern spacecraft.
