I started out building model airplanes, first simple hand-thrown models and then radio controlled models. I got through the early training courses for flying a single engine airplane (Bravo) as a preparation for becoming a fighter pilot in the Swiss Army (1976). My ambitions were halted by death of my dad and I focused on a career as a mechanical engineer. In 2000 I started training as a hang-glider pilot and I very much enjoy the free flying aspects of hang-gliding. In 2003 I bought a kit airplane (Zenair CH701) and started building it in my basement. I hope to fly it by 2005.
