    Mr. Schneider's interest in aviation and space technology began when he became a member of the Air Force ROTC at Brooklyn College in New York and continued with his enrollment and subsequent graduation form the Academy of Aeronautics (formally the Casey Jones School of Aeronautics) in 1958 where he studied aircraft technology and obtained an Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic's License. He obtained his BS in Aeronautical Engineering in 1962 and his MS in Astronautics in 1967, both from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. In 1962 he went to work for General Applied Science Laboratories (GASL) under the direction of Dr. Antonio Ferri and worked on applications of SCRAMJETS and other high-speed air-breathing propulsion systems. He joined Oceanics, Inc. in 1972 and worked on different types of air-cushioned vehicles including Surface Effect Ships and Air-Cushioned Vehicles for both military and commercial applications. He also worked on projects involving marine propellers and simulation studies. In 1977, he went to work for ORI, Inc. as an Associate Program Director and worked on and directed projects involving applications of high-speed air-breathing propulsion systems to aircraft and missiles. He remained with the company after it was acquired by The Atlantic Research Corp. and again, by Computer Science Corporation, eventually becoming an Associate Division Director and, managing programs in both aerospace and marine engineering until his retirement.
