LTJG John Arthur Johnson, 1933-1960; brother to William Robert Johnson and Thomas Richard Johnson
John was a Douglas McDonnell A4 Skyhawk pilot who gave his life flying for his country. Flying from the aircraft carrier USS Independence during maneuvers, there was a catapult failure and John attempted to eject, but the canopy did not clear. John was given to the sea as his final resting place with a marker at Arlington. He was taking additional flying time in order to get to see his family. As a test pilot for the Navy, he was invited to try out for the Blue Angels shortly before his death. He was a graduate of Fort Schuyler, New York State Maritime College. He is survived by his son and three grandchildren.
