    Edward Papp was born on September 21, 1916 in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Horace Mann School in Gary, Indiana, and graduated from LaGrange Township High School in 1934. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1939. He married Barbara Jennings in 1940.

    He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on January 6, 1942. He could not qualify for pilot training due to color blindness, so became an aircraft mechanic graduating from school at Chanute Field, Champaign, Illinois. He was assigned to the 315th Troop Carrier Group. He served with the 43rd Squadron and served in England, Africa and France. He was separated from service on September 17, 1945. He earned the Bronze Star and Air Medal.

    He died December 7, 1996.
