CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
1950 -?– Joined AF. From Lackland AFB was assigned to Scott Field for Radio Mechanics' School, awaiting orders to pilot training.
1951 -?– Basic Training at Bartow AFB, FL.
1952 -?– Advanced Training Bryan AFB, TX. Graduated October 25, 1952 in Class 52-G, one of the top 13 in class to be assigned to the F-86 Sabre. Spent 6 weeks in Gunnery school at Nellis AFB, NV. Told by his instructor he was a ?“natural born formation pilot?”.
January 1953-February 1954: Suwon, Korea, Member of 39th Fighter Interceptor Squadron and 51st Tactical Fighter Wing. One confirmed kill and one unconfirmed kill.
March 1954 -?– Assigned Laredo AFB, TX. As 1st Lt. served as Flight Commander in charge of 15 instructors and 60 pilot trainees; the youngest Air Force officer to serve in that capacity at that time.
1957 -?– Assigned to Barksdale AFB, LA (with TDY to McConnell AFB, KS for training in B-47).
1958 -?– Transferred to newly formed 913th Air Refueling Squadron at Barksdale to fly the KC-135. Training was 3 months at Castle AFB, CA; then later back to Castle to become a Command Pilot.
1964 - Schilling AFB, KS ?– Pilot KC-135.
1965 - Walker AFB, NM ?– Pilot KC-135.
1966 - Plattsburgh AFB, NY ?– Pilot KC-135.
1968 -?– Kadena AB, Okinawa ?– Scheduling Officer.
1970-1971 (8 months) - Vietnam ?– Pilot C-123
1971-1974 - Barksdale AFB, LA 71st AREF Squadron for short time. Then became Deputy Commander of Security, 2nd Air Force until retirement 12/1/1974.
