    Joined the USAF out of college, attended Officer Training School and USAF Pilot Training in 1969. Flew worldwide missions for USAF in C141 heavy four-engine jet transports while stationed at McChord AFB, Washington, reaching the level of Flight Examiner Aircraft Commander. Then moved to Warner Robins AFB, Georgia and engaged in C141 Test Flying after programed depot maintenance and modifications.

    In 1979, Dick, decided to re-enter civilian aviation and joined Lockheed Corporation as a test pilot flying the Tristar L1011 Airliner in Palmdale, California, however continued to fly C141's in the USAF Reserves at Norton AFB, CA, reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and then retired from USAF in March 1993.

    After the L1011 program came to an end, helped to start up and run a new Lockheed Corporate Flight Department in California and then moved to Maryland when Lockheed and Martin merged in 1995. Flew a variety of large corporate jets world wide in support of corporate business. Became Chief Pilot in 1998 and then the Director of Lockheed Martin Corporate Aircraft Flight Department in 2000.

    Retired from Lockheed Martin and professional flying in Feb 2011
