    Cpl. Richard Amos Percy served in the 345th Aerodrome Sqd. Of the 2nd Combat Cargo Sqd. In the CBI from 1944-1945, ending in China. He used the G. I. Bill to attend N.Y.U., graduating AeroE51. He went to work at Grumman Aircraft Eng. Co. in 1951, where they employed him in manufacturing eng. He worked on the S2F, F-9F, F-10F, F-11F, A6A, C2A, OV-1A, EA6-B, G-1, G-2, G-3, F-14, A6E, E2C, C-29 in the Steel Parts Group of Tod Engineering. In the 1960s he switched to the Welding Eng. Group where he worked on developing the stainless steel plumbing of the LEM vehicles from PD-1 thru LM-12. This led to the zero leak hydraulic system of the F-14. He retired in 1985 and used the time to write a book about WW II in Burma. It’s called “The 345th”.
