    Honored by:

After graduating from the University of Illinois in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mr. Seinfeld went to work for the Glenn L. Martin Co. in Baltimore where he helped design the Matador Guided Missile and B-57 Aircraft Autopilots. He later went to work for the General Motors Corporation, AC Sparkplug Div. in Milwaukee where he worked on the design of the Matador and Regulus Inertial Guidance Systems. His greatest contribution to the Aerospace Industry came later when he performed some of the earliest work in fuel optimization and fuel management techniques for Jet Aircraft for the US Air Force while working for the Astronautics Corporation of America. Later, his fuel optimization experience for jet aircraft was put to work in space where he performed some of the original simulations of fuel management for space vehicles in orbit and during the orbital rendezvous maneuver. While still at Astronautics Corporation of America and receiving his Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, he worked with their Astronomy Dept. under a NASA program and designed the Stable Platform and Star Tracker System for the NASA X-15 High Altitude Research Vehicle which provided some of the first Astronomical photographs of star constellations in the Ultra-Violet spectrum from beyond the atmosphere. This data was used for calibration of astronomical cameras for subsequent manned space flight and future stellar observations such as with the orbiting astronomical observatory.
Mr. Seinfeld retired as Vice President of the Astronautics Corporation of America in 1999 and works as a consultant in the aerospace industry.
