    ROBERT EUGENE BARNHART, Born December 10, 1921 Lena, Illinois. Entered U.S. Army Air Corp 1942, assigned to pilot training. Graduated - pilot, February, 1944; Napier Field, Dothan, Alabama.
    After P-40 fighter training in Florida, P-47 in Delaware, his assignment - 8th Air Force, England, March, 1944.
    Completing combat pilot training in England, July, 1944, he was assigned to 356th Fighter Group, 360th Fighter Squadron. Flew 75 missions (40 in P-47; 35 in P-51), 305 combat hours. Credited with destroying 2 planes (one a German Jet, Arado 234) plus 1 damaged. Awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal (6 Oak Leaf Clusters), Presidential Unit Citation, 3 battle stars European Theatre, completed tour April 1945, Captain. Released from active duty June 1945.
    He entered Massachusetts Institute of Technology September 1945. Graduated, Mechanical Engineer, 1948.
    Retired from Proctor & Gamble Company after 33 years managing capital projects.
