Robert Mart was born in Columbus, Ohio, in 1922. He serve d in the 86th Fighter Bomber Group of the Army Air Corps during World War II. The primary aircraft he flew was the P 47 Thunderbolt. Following the war – he had a long career in television broadcasting. He never lost his love of aviation though and – late in life – returned to the air after obtaining his private pilot’s license. He died in 1989 in Berkeley, CA.
