Citation for the Distinguished Flying Cross:

Major Robert James Rashka distinguished himself by heroism while participating in aerial flight as an F-4D aircraft commander over North Vietnam on 5 Oct, 1968. On that date, Major Rashka made numerous attacks against well defended weapon storage areas under adverse weather conditions and in the face of withering defensive fire. Despite the personal hazards involved, Major Rashka was instrumental in destroying extremely significant quantities of material of strategic importance. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by major Rashka reflects great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
