    Wall of Honor Level:
    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:

Joined the U. S. Navy in Chicago, IL June 1943. After Boot Camp at Great Lakes, was sent to Virginia Beach, VA for Radar Training. Was a "Plankowner" on the USS James E Craig, DE 201. After a shakedown cruise to Bermuda, we spent the rest of 1943-45 in the SW Pacific earning seven Battle Stars. Radar was new at the time, but we learned by doing and used radar to keep position in a convoy or as an anti-sub ship going back and forth across harbor entrances. Also picked up "lost" aircraft and vectored them to a friendly base. After the war, spent over 30 years with the CAA/FAA as an Air Traffic Controller (still using the "old radars").

Wall of Honor profiles are provided by the honoree or the donor who added their name to the Wall of Honor. The Museum cannot validate all facts contained in the profiles.
