    LtCol Robert W. (Stoney) Stonestreet was born June 22, 1929 in Sallis, Mississippi. He joined the United States Air Force (USAF) in December 1951 and graduated from pilot training in December 1953. He flew F-86s with the 335th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (FIS) at Kimpo Air Base, Korea and Chitose Air Base, Japan. He got one combat mission in Korea in the F-86, flying wing on Lt Charles Salmon when he shot down a Mig-15 in February 1955.
    He flew F-86Ds in the 75th and 2nd FIS (Suffolk County AFB, NY), F-102s with the 482nd FIS (Seymour Johnson AFB, NC), 59th FIS (Goose AB, Labrador), USAF Interceptor Weapons School (Tyndall AFB, FL), and Ellington AFB, TX).

    F-102 crew member on 3 Worldwide Weapons Meet Teams, flew fighter escort for President John F. Kennedy to South America in 1961, flew Combat Air Patrol missions during Cuban Crisis, Project Officer for Project ADC/ADWC 68-12, F-106 Tactical Employment Evaluation.

    Nominated for the Air Force Association Jerome Waterman Award in 1968 as the outstanding military man in Florida. He flew 135 combat missions in the F-4 with the 366 Tactical Fighter Wing. His medals include the Distinguished Flying Cross, 8 Air Medals, Korean Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. LtCol Stonestreet retired from Lockheed at the Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX) after 28 years working on Space Shuttle and Space Station projects.
