Rob was the son of Walter D. Cable and grandson of Dewey Cable. Dewey founded Cable airport (CCB) in Upland, California, the world's largest family owned public-use airport.
Rob was a pilot and mechanic extraordinary. Until his death he was president and director of maintenance of Foothill Aircraft Sales and Service, Inc. at Cable Airport.
