    Honored by:

Already knowing as a boy that he wanted to fly, "Rod" Stine joined the United States Air Force. Although he was unable to become a military pilot while in the service, he used his own resources to obtain his private pilot certificate. His enthusiasm for flying never wavered and he eventually qualified for commercial-instrument privileges. In time, he bought and proudly maintained his very own red and white Cessna C-172 Skyhawk. Painfully, circumstances arose which led him to sell his beloved Skyhawk.
Before that day, however, Rod provided inspiration, encouragement, resources, and the use of his aircraft to his sixteen-year-old son, so that he might obtain his flying privileges at an earlier age. Both Rod's son and youngest daughter went on to become military pilots in the United States Air Force. Presently, Rod still enjoys the pleasures of flying with his hot-air balloon. Dear Dad, I just wanted you to know, I appreciate everything you did to help me succeed in my flying career. Thank you! Love, David.
