From 1986 to 1997, Roger Balettie worked in the Mission Operations Directorate at NASA's Johnson Space Center. As a Senior Flight Dynamics Officer (FDO) in the Space Shuttle Mission Control Center (MCC), Roger supported 26 Space Shuttle missions, including 10 in a Lead FDO capacity. Certified as an Orbit, Deploy, and Rendezvous FDO, Roger supported all of the Shuttle-Mir missions during his tenure and the last upper-stage satellite deployments done by the Shuttle program. Roger was also instrumental in the development and deployment of the MCC upgrade project, modernizing and improving the 1960s era computer hardware and software to the flexible modern systems still in use today for Shuttle and ISS Flight Control.
