    Profile: Rudy served in the United States Navy from 1947 to 1952. He was on active duty during the Korean War from January 10, 1951 to August 9, 1952. As a reserve, he served with Transport Squadron Sixty (VR 60) at the Glenview Naval Air Station. On active duty, he served with Patrol Squadron Forty (VP 40) based at the San Diego Naval Air Station. While deployed overseas with VP40 at Iwakuni, Japan, he flew 32 combat missions over and around Korea as an aircrewman and flight engineer aboard Martin Mariner patrol bomber aircraft. He earned an Air Medal, Korean Service Medal(l star), and the United Nations Service Ribbon. He has maintained an active interest in aviation and aviation history ever since concluding his naval service.
