Born at Fort Rucker, Alabama, the home of Army aviation in 1968. He returned in 1997 to attend Army Rotary Flight Training and graduated with honors. He then flew Ch-47D chinook Helicopters for the Texas Army National Guard. In 2003, he flew missions in Iraq and Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom earning several awards to include an Air Medal. He also worked as an aircraft mechanic on Army helicopters and Boeing 757/767/777 jet aircraft of American Airlines. He holds several Flight Instructor ratings. He is currently a Captain for American Airlines.
