Served in the USAAF from 1943 to 1946 in one of 100 new Douglass C-47s. We left Morrison Field, FL, May 21st 1944. Landed Sylhet, India on June 6th 1944, D-DAY! We were now in the 9th Combat Cargo Squadron of the 3rd Combat Cargo Group. As Flight Engineer/Crew Chief I flew approximately 500 hours on C-47 and C-46 aircraft mostly in a combat zone including trips over "The Hump."
Decorations include; three Battle Stars on the Asiatic- Pacific Ribbon, War Memorial Medal from Beijing, China, Air Crew Wings from General Shan in Taiwan, the Air Medal and the Conspicuous Service Cross from New York.
