Dr. Stanley A. Berger is a professor of fluid mechanics and aeronautics in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the American Physical Society, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He has been Chair of the Division of Fluid Dynamics of the American Physical Society (2001-2002), and Chair of the Division of Applied Mechanics of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (1997-1998). He has been a consultant or official visitor to the RAND Corporation, Lockheed Missiles & Space Co., and NASA Ames and Langley Research Centers. His research over the years has encompassed hypersonic flows, wake flows, magneto hydrodynamics, boundary layer flows, and computational fluid dynamics.
