    Wall of Honor Level:
    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:

Steve Autry has been a long-time supporter of aviation and space exploration. His early involvement in aviation was with the Civil Air Patrol where he first had the opportunity to take the controls of an aircraft. He studied aerospace engineering in college and obtained his pilot's license. He then went to work for BF Goodrich Aerospace where he was involved with the design and development of escape slides for the first Boeing 747, developed escape slides for the Airbus A-310, and designed F-111 ejection module impact bags.
Steve moved to the avionics systems integration side of aviation as president of Hollingsead International and president and owner of ASM. These companies were instrumental in installation and certification of
collision avoidance systems (TCAS), enhanced ground proximity warning systems (EGPWS) and global positioning systems (GPS). Steve is now chief executive officer and co-owner of Freeflight Systems Ltd., the company which developed and certified the first GPS wide area augmentation (WAAS) sensor.
After 30 years away from flying, Steve renewed his pilot's license and is now pursuing an instrument rating.
