    Rated Pilot April 1956. 7500 hrs. in T-34, T-28, T-33, F-86F/H, F-100C/D/F, F-104, A-7, A-10, F-5A/B, F-4C/D/E/G, F-15A/B/C, F-16A/B/C/D, and an assortment of other military and civilian aircraft.

    War service in Viet Nam: 220 missions, 105 over the North (F-4C).

    Other overseas PCS assignments in France, Germany, Korea and the Philippines.

    Held fighter organizational jobs as: Flight Commander; Operations Officer, Section Commander; Squadron Commander/Leader (Thunderbirds); Wing Commander 3 times (8th Ftr Wing., 3rd Ftr. Wing, 57th Weapons Wing, and Commandant (of Weapons School); Air Division Commander (of 2 Ftr. Wings.); Fighter Weapons Center Commander. Received Distinguished Service Medal, 3 Legions of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, 15 Air Medals, and many other military decorations.

    Retired November 1986. Received the Exceptional Civilian Service Medal for work after military retirement with the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board. Currently President of T. Swalm and Associates, actively consulting to the aerospace industry.

    Born 28 September 1931, died 15 January 2015.
