    Wall of Honor Level:
    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:
    Mr. Robert M. Evanson

I first met Tom Wardleigh when he stopped at our farm in North Dakota in the early sixties. He was flying a Cessna 180 from Kansas to Alaska and was forced by a blizzard to weather out two days. It was the first time I met him. He was a friend and neighbor of my brother in Alaska. Twenty years later, I had moved to Alaska, bought my own plane (an Aeronca Champion), soloed, and he took the time to teach me about good take-offs and landings. He flew with me 150 miles to my place of employment on an island which had a tricky upslope air strip between hills. After checking me out, he flew back to Anchorage with my brother.

He taught countless others safe practices and deserves a prominent place of honor. [Submitted by Robert M. Evanson]
