    Sgt. Basye joined the United States Air Force after serving with the U.S. Navy during WWII. Upon enlisting in the United States Air Force he was assigned as an Airborne Radio Operator and would serve as such for seventeen years. Sgt. Basye served aboard a multitude of aircraft of which were the:
    Douglas G-47, G-54, G-118J Boeing B-17, B-29, B-50, KG-97, KG135; Fairchild C-82, C-l19 and Grumman HU-16
    During the first nine years in the Air Force Sgt. Basye was a member of
    several squadrons that would eventually become the Air Forces'
    Photographic, Cartographic, Aerial Photographic Mapping and Electronic Surveying: Sgt Basye served in the Far East and was involved in the Cold War Reconnaissance sometimes finding the aircraft he was aboard
    was flying formation with the opponent
    when they chose to. His last assignment was to help form an airborne communications platform using SACs' cast off KC135s.
    Sgt Basye" retired from the Air Force and became employed by Texas Instruments Inc. testing and qualifying electronic components that would
    be used in products built for the military and space programs.
    Some of the components tested and qualified by him would be used in
    some of our earlier space probes.
    He likes to tell people "some of my better work is out of this world".
