Born Oct 1926, Pittsburgh, PA. Soloed Nov 1943 in a J-3 Cub seaplane.

Joined the US Army Air Forces Nov 1944 and was classified as an Aviation Cadet (Navy flight training was closed at the time).

The war ended and he was released at the convenience of the government.

Studied aeronautical engineering at the University of Pittsburgh, then joined the US Navy Naval Cadet program in 1949. Navy wings in 1951.

Flew F2H Banshees in the Korean War with VF-62 Gladiators off the USS Lake Champlain. Served 13 years active and reserve.

Flew SNJ, F6F, T-28, T-33, SNB, P-80, F2H, FJ2, R4D, R4D-8, C-54, etc. Flew off carriers Wright, Monterey, Wasp, Coral Sea, F. D. Roosevelt, Lake Champlain.

Joined Pan American Airways in 1955. Left to join Capital Airlines, then United Airlines. Retired in 1986 with over 29,000 hours. Flew DC-3, DC-4, Viscount, Boeing 727 (all models), DC-8 (all models), DC-10 (all models), and various small civilian aircraft and helicopters.
