    Born in New Castle, Pennsylvania, August 30, 1930 to Carl and Helen (Blaszak) Natzic

    Enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on June 14th, 1949. Assigned to San Antonio, Texas for basic training and then on to communications school at Fort Warren, Cheyenne, Wyoming. Assigned to the Pacific Theatre at the outbreak of the Korean War at Clark Air Force Base in Luzon, Philippine Islands. Responsible for Base communications and emergency mobile communications center. Fulfilled enlistment commitment, Earned an honorable Discharge.

    Joined the Radio Corporation of America (RCA), assigned to Kennedy Airport in Long Island to upgrade new digital controlled radio receivers and transmitters for aircraft communications under an FAA contract to improve
    flight controller communications with aircraft inflight operations. Later transferred to Washington National Airport to upgrade and satisfy same requirements.

    Joined Bendix Corporation in 1959 and was initially assigned to work with the Naval Research Laboratories (NRL) on a research project for tracking the "first in space", Russian Sputnik Spacecraft, launched in 1957. We had to implement tracking systems to also support the first American satellite to be launched into outer space orbit; Explorer 1 was launched on 31 January, 1958.

    Assigned to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) Space Program in July, 1960 to assist JPL in doing its part in accelerating America's space race initiatives. Led and managed the contractor development and operations team in support of several Lunar programs such as: Ranger, Surveyor and Lunar Orbiter, which paved the way for the manned Apollo landings on the Moon. Deep Space science interests were selected priority programs such as: Pioneer; exploring the Sun, Jupiter, Saturn and Venus. The Mariner program, also started in the 1960's paved the way for follow-on programs to Venus and Mercury, including today's high interest in the planet Mars.

    Assigned to the Pioneer 10 and 11 Solar Mission Program at Ames Research Center(ARC). Responsible for the development of the Pioneer Mission Operations Control Center (PMOCC). Mission Operations contract and the remote operation interfaced to JPL's World-wide Deep Space Network for 24-7 support of all Pioneer flight ops.
