    TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
During the year and eleven months that Mr. Wayne E. Harding, Jr. was with Chance Vought Aircraft Division of United Aircraft Corporation, Stratford, Connecticut, he proved himself an expert experimental pilot in the testing and operation of F4U-4 and F4U-5 fastest reciprocating engine type Navy shipboard fighter airplanes.
His leadership qualifications were demonstrated in the late fall of 1947 when year-end schedules had to be met with new airplanes that had to be flown, evaluated correctly and fully approved before delivery to the Navy. He took the lead, was an outstanding example to both pilots and ground mechanics, and was liked and respected by all.
Those in the Chance Vought organization who knew Wayne E. Harding will miss him but will join in wishing him a full measure of success in his new undertakings.
    Very truly yours,
UNITED AIRCRAFT CORPORATION CHANCE VOUGHT AIRCRAFT DIVISION
    B .D. Taliaferro, Factory Manager
