Honored by:

SSgt Sommer participated in over 120 unarmed reconnaissance missions over Southeast Asia in 1971. He was an Airborne Direction Finding and Morse Intercept Operator aboard EC-47’s originating out of Da Nang Air Base, Republic of Vietnam. The purpose of these missions was to provide real time intelligence to the commanders on the ground.
