    Honored by:
    Mr. Troy M. Curnutte

Bill loved airplanes from a very early age. Realizing his dream, he entered into the Aviation Cadet Program right after high school. He flew P-475 in the China-Burma theater during World War II. He rose through the Air Force ranks as a superior fighter pilot flying F-89s, F-102s, F101s, F106s, and T33s along with many other types of aircraft.
The highlight of his flight pilot career came when he volunteered for combat duty in Vietnam. Serving with the 366th Gunfighter Wing, he flew 93 combat missions as a F-4D Aircraft Commander and flight leader. He earned two Distinguished Flyer Crosses (DFCs) and five Air Medals during his tour. Bill retired from the Air Force in 1970.
