Captain (USAF) in World War II. Flew B-17’s with 379th bomb Group (8th AF) and B-24’s as instructor pilot. Worked 35 years for Martin Company (now Lockheed Martin) on projects such as Dyna-Soar, P-6M (Navy Seaplane) and Space Shuttle. Served as Chief Engineer and later Program manager for Space Shuttle external tank. Designed and tested lightweight tank used on 1st Shuttle missions.
