William J. Dorsey has had a passion for flying ever since he took his first lesson at the age of 17. From that moment on, he was destined to have a career in flight. He began his professional aviation career as a flight instructor at Sylvania Airport in Sturtevant, Wisconsin and as a pilot flying for a tool and dye company in Racine, Wisconsin called Foundry Allied Industries. In May of 1968, he began flying for SC Johnson and Son in Racine, Wisconsin and eventually acquired the ranks of Captain and Chief Pilot. He remained very happily at SC Johnson Wax for 34 years, enjoying the company, the people he worked with and the job he did, retiring in January of 2002. William continues to fly freelance for various companies when needed. He holds type ratings in numerous aircraft including the Falcon 900, Challenger 601 and the Gulfstream. In addition to his Commercial, ATP, Instrument and flight instructor ratings, William also holds ratings for Sea-Plane and Sailplane! instructor. He has said that he is so lucky to have had a job that he loves. In his own words, "It beats working for a living."
