William L. Skinner, Senior was born March 30, 1908 in Great River, New York. He was educated in the East Islip school system. He worked for Igor Sikorsky on flying boats in either the Connecticut or Florida plant in the 1930s. He joined Grumman Aircraft Company, working from 1941 to 1946, and from 1949 to 1976.
He worked on Grumman aircraft from Hellcats to Tomcats. His son, William L. Skinner, Junior, works at Northrop-Grumman from 1959 to present. William Sr. passed away October 6, 1985 in Bay Shore, New York.
