    WILLIAM VEIGA JR, CMSGT, USAF-Ret, born in Falmouth, MA, Dec 7, 1929. Enlisted in the Air Force in Nov. 1948 and graduated from Control Tower Operators Course at Scott AFB in June 1949. Tours of duty as a tower operator with A ACS included Bermuda, the Azores, and Wright-Patterson AFB. After a second tour in the Azores as now a Tower Chief, he was assigned staff positions in the 1816 AACS Training GP as a FAA Examiner and then as the AACS Liaison at the Air Training Command Air Traffic Control courses @ Keesler AFB, MS. for 3 years. This was followed by two tours as a Chief Controller in Aviano, Italy and in between as an Advisor to the ANG assigned to EASTCOM Region, Westover AFB, MA. Retired from the USAF in July 1969 with two AF Commendation Medals and many Letters of commendations, went to work for Raytheon Marine Company in NH in various positions and retired from there 23 years later as Director of Government Programs. He presently resides in Clearlake Oaks, CA where he enjoys fishing, aircraft modeling, air shows, air museums, and reunions with old AACS friends.
