    Joined the Army Air Corps in May 1942. Graduated from flying school in July 1943. Flew 100 combat missions in the P-40 and P-51 with the 16th Fighter Squadron, 14th Air Force in the China, Burma, India Theater. Wounded twice. Destroyed two enemy aircraft in aerial combat. Returned to the United States in 1945.

    Flew 129 combat missions in the F-84 with the 27th Fighter Wing in Japan and Korea. Wounded once. One MIG-15 destroyed in aerial combat. Returned to the U.S. in 1951 and was discharged from the Air Force.
